The general shape remains the same, except the front design is a derivative of a lesser-known experimental Lamborghini truck project built when Chrysler owned the company. Here, we’re taking the four-door, shortbed LM002 a step further by turning it into a two-door HD pickup. The version that was built remained in production from 1986 to the early ’90s and was available in one luxurious configuration.
The LM002 was derived from a military vehicle Lamborghini developed (which wasn’t built). That V-12 has had a very long life in all kinds of Lamborghinis, including the 455hp LM002 eight-lug vehicle that may have seemed odd for an exotic car company to build in the first place. Ferruccio Lamborghini achieved this in part by hiring ex-Ferrari engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, who designed the V-12 for the 350 GTV. In 1963, an Italian tractor manufacturer presented a car to challenge Ferrari.
